Treasurer’s Report:
Questions about the Treasurer’s report may be directed to the Treasurer Stephen Kane.
The following is a list of various committees’ activities and their Chairperson.
Nominating Committee: E-Daphne Anderson, The Trinity Nominating Committee met on August 6, 2024, to begin our work for the coming year. We ask for your prayers as we consider those God is calling to serve the church as Elders, Deacons, and members of the Nominating Committee. Please contact committee chairperson Daphne Anderson if you feel called to serve in one of these positions, or would like to recommend someone, by September 1.
Mission and Public Witness Committee: E-Martha Sparrow, The refugee family arrived on July 11, 2024. Members of the Community Support Group (CSG) greeted them at the airport and a meal was provided by Trinity and prepared by a Somali woman who was recommended by the International Institute. The family is renting a 3 bedroom home in the Weaver School area. The home was thoroughly cleaned, repaired and furnished by the CSG. The three children will start school next week. The father has been offered a job at the International Institute and with the help of Mike Simpson is working to obtain a driver's license and purchase a car
Personnel Committee: Bob Kick, The Committee plans to soon fill a position for Sound Technician to support Sunday worship.
Finance Committee: E-Dave Fleetwood, The Financial Reports for the first 5 months of 2024 are in and show that Trinity’s financial position is very strong. In those 5 months, budget-wise, we have built a surplus, and if that trend continues we could very well erase the projected deficit for the 2024 Budget. In addition, our cash position remains very positive with receipts and investments continuing to cover our expenses.
We still are looking for a volunteer to replace our outgoing Treasurer Stephen Kane. If anyone is interested in this position or knows of someone who might be, please contact Dave Fleetwood or any member of the Finance Committee. This individual would be trained by Stephen, and an accounting background would be helpful but not necessary.
Congregational Care Committee: D-Brenda Havens, This committee is looking forward to beginning Home-Bound communion again with the Elders. We are also exploring a Shepherding Program for new members to help them integrate with the Trinity membership and feel more engaged in their new church home. Elders and Deacons are continually getting in touch with their congregational members.
Generosity and Engagement: E-Carrie Arquitt, We are working on the Brochure to send out for the Fall Campaign. If anyone has pictures of Trinity events, we would love to receive them ASAP to possibly be included in the Brochure. Contact Carrie Arquitt.
Worship and Music Committee: Susan Uffman, God continues to bless this vibrant worshipping community! The Worship & Music committee met on Aug. 14 to plan services that are engaging, inclusive and meaningful for all, with special attention on the upcoming Advent season. Some highlights:
Pulpit Supply preachers are in place through Advent.
A Christmas cantata will be offered in worship on Sunday, Dec. 22.
Welcoming people into worship is an important ministry. If you are interested in serving on an usher team from time to time, please contact Kristin Butler.
Trinity will celebrate communion on Sunday, Sept. 1.

With grateful hearts, we should all feel the joy that we at Trinity have in our church family. What resources we each have and we can ALL share our gifts with each other! The Worship and Music committee is grateful for those who have helped in “filling our pulpit” at this time of change until a Transitional Pastor is called to serve with us here at Trinity.

Update on Trinity’s Refugee Family
The children of our refugee family started school at Weaver Elementary this past Monday. In preparation, we took the family shopping. The children tried on clothing and shoes in their favorite colors, coming home with lovely new outfits for school. They send these notes to you in thanks:
Current Needs of Trinity’s Refugee Family:
Used car in good condition (to sell to them for less than $10,000)
Swing set you no longer need (to donate)
Prayers for our family as Dad seeks a job and practices driving, as the children settle into school, and as everyone adjusts to life in a new country. They have been in Springfield just six weeks!
As always, thank you for your love and care!
