Extended Worship - Trinity Sunday - June 7, 2020

June 7 2020 Worship Email.png

Happy Trinity Sunday!  The week after Pentecost is when the church gives thanks for the revelation of God as three-in-one and one-in-three.  You will find Trinity imagery woven throughout the service, from two Trinitarian hymns, to our children's sermon and prayers.  Today we also celebrate Communion.  You are invited to participate with whatever you have on hand today; grape juice, wine, water, and bread.

Earlier this week we shared the news that Trinity member Jerry Redfern had entered the Church Triumphant.  We can now also share that there will be a public visitation for Jerry this Thursday, June 11th at Greenlawn East, from 5:30 to 7:30pm.  You may find Jerry's obituary, as well as directions to Greenlawn East, by clicking here.  Thank you for holding the Redfern family, and all those who love Jerry, in your prayers in these coming days.

Thank you for being part of the Trinity family; if there are ways that Trinity and I can be a good support to you this week please don't hesitate to reach out.

Music for Social Distancing
Each week our staff will be sharing some music that is bringing them joy.  Some may relate to the sermon, others are just music for the times.  You can click herefor the full playlist.  Here are this week's picks:

This week's songs from Chris:

  • Total Praise by The Trenton Children's Chorus - A standard of the Black church, Total Praise is a joy-filled paraphrase of several Psalms. Performed at Princeton Theological Seminary; this was the year after I graduated and several of my classmates who were still around helped fill out the choir.

  • Evolution of Worship Music by David Wesley - Take a tour of about 1500 years of Christian music in about 7.5 minutes; I find it amazing how old (and not old) some of my favorite hymns are.  This video makes me smile every time I watch it, if for no other reason that it's one guy doing six parts!

  • The Irish Blessing - Some of you may have seen this shared in our Facebook group (props to Susan Uffmann!), but this is a virtual choir representing 300 different churches and ministries throughout Ireland, all singing "Be Thou My Vision" plus portions of St. Patrick's Breastplate.  It is stunning on many levels!

This week's song from Carla:
