Monthly Curbside Food Drive
On the second Monday of every month, we host a food (and supply) drive for Crosslines Community Outreach, which offers assistance to our underserved neighbors. In addition to shelf-stable food items, we also collect paper products (toilet paper, paper towels) and personal hygiene items including feminine hygiene products and incontinence supplies. Crosslines will also accept clean plastic sacks from grocery and other retail stores to distribute fresh produce.
If the office is closed due to weather, the food drive will be rescheduled and a new date announced.
Giving Notices
In the next few weeks, you may receive one or more email notices acknowledging your giving going as far back as January of this year. Due to a division of labor with the church's accounting firm, we are needing to manually enter giving information, which triggers a notice to you. You need not be concerned if you receive a notice, but please call us if you have any questions.

Each property we investigate is evaluated on the following criteria
Location in Springfield
Accessibility (inside and outside) and adequate parking- including handicap spaces
Available time for Sunday Morning Worship
Capacity of the Worship Area including space for a choir and musicians
Access to at least 2 Adult Sunday School Rooms, a Youth Room, a Children's Sunday School Room, and a nursery. One of these rooms needs to serve as location for Presbytery purchased “Zoom” meeting equipment
Pastor and administrative staff space along with adequate storage for supplies
Capacity of Fellowship Hall and Kitchen facility
Potential safety and security issues, especially for evening activities
Potential liability for building upgrades, HVAC, electric, sidewalks, etc.

PW Church-Wide Gathering
Welcome to the Gathering Quest!
“A threefold cord is not quickly broken,” based on Ecclesiastes 4:12b, is the theme for the 2027 Churchwide Gathering of Presbyterian Women. In 2027, Presbyterian Women’s Churchwide Gathering (CWG) will be held in Louisville, Kentucky, from August 5–8. Gathering attendees will receive a special conference rate for hotel rooms at the Galt House, which will host all Gathering programming and opportunities. Save these dates, share these dates and plan to joyfully join Presbyterian Women in an exciting, faith-filled time of renewal, connection and fun. Gathering registration opens in March 2027.

PCHAS Springfield Luncheon
Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services (PCHAS) is entering another year of service—more than a century of caring for children and families in need. They remain deeply grateful for the prayers, generosity, and partnership of friends who embrace their mission of providing Christ-centered care.
PCHAS is hosting a luncheon, which is free to attend, and offers a meaningful opportunity to hear how God is working through them across Southwest Missouri. You will hear stories from families whose lives have been impacted by their programs, along with insights from local community leaders who see firsthand how compassion, stability, and hope are changing lives.
This year’s theme, Hope Outshines Hardship, reflects what they witness every day—children and families discovering strength, healing, and possibility even in the midst of difficult circumstances.

Gratitude Sunday
Did you ever pause to think how many people it takes each Sunday to prepare a meaningful worship service - one that leaves you feeling that you have truly glorified God, connected with others, and received something encouraging to carry into your everyday life? The total would add up to more than you can count on your fingers – and toes! Our choir, choir director, instrumentalists and accompanist share music that is contemplative, inspired, and uplifting. The AV team makes worship look and sound good, both in the sanctuary and online. Jacob patiently assists people with hearing devices to further our goal of inclusion for all. Who counts the attendance? Who presents welcome bags to our visitors? Who tallies the weekly offering? Who counts the weekly attendance and updates the visitors’ pads? We depend on ushers and greeters, liturgists, a children’s leader for the sharing of a wise and relevant children’s sermon, those that prepare and serve communion, volunteers that fold the bulletin, and of course, Pastor Tom, who shares thought provoking and insightful sermons. Behind the scenes is Alyssa who coordinates it all. Are you out of fingers and toes yet?
Join us Sunday, Sept. 27 for a Gratitude Reception in the coffee nook. Let’s celebrate all of you who share your time and talents with our congregation week after week. We are blessed by worship that challenges us to live faithfully, love one another, trust God, serve others, show compassion, and go out into the world with joy.

Office Volunteers and Subs Needed
Our friends at Brentwood have been providing MOST of the Welcome Desk coverage for the last 18 months, with a few gaps. We have offered to try to fill those gaps as we are able. Shifts are three hours long (9:00 a.m. to Noon, Noon to 3:00 p.m.), and involve answering the phone, opening the door, and general office tasks as needed. Most of the time you will be idle and able to focus on a task or book you bring from home. You can sign up to work specific shifts every week, once a month, or on specific days that work best for you.
Regular openings are on Mondays and Wednesdays, from Noon to 3:00 p.m. We would also like to develop a list of substitute Welcome Desk volunteers, folks that can be called when one of the regularly scheduled volunteers (on any shift, Monday through Thursday) cannot fill the shift.

Prayer Chain
There are currently 16 people on Trinity’s Prayer Chain. Pray-ers receive text messages whenever someone requests prayer. Prayer requests can be as specific or general as the requester wants. Trinity Sunday School Classes
Sunday School opportunities for all ages. Please consider joining us in exploring our faith and learning from one another in spaces of grace and love. All classes begin at 10:15 a.m.
Children's Class
Children pre-K through 5th grade are invited to join us as we learn about people Jesus met, The Short Man Zacchaeus, A Thankful Woman who washed the feet of Jesus and A Thankful Man who was cured of a bad disease. We have crafts, games and treats that accompany each lesson. Hope you can join us.
SALT (Studying and Learning Together)
Class resumes September 13 at 10:15 in room 17. Our first study is Genesis: A Beginner's Guide to the Beginning by Amy-Jill Levine.
Levine presents Genesis as a living text, one that continues to shape faith, identity and our understanding of what it means to be human. These familiar stories are often heard in fragments; here, they are explored with care, curiosity, and theological insight. This is a six-session study which includes videos with the author. Please come join us!
Topical Discussions Sunday School
Please join us for Sunday School weekly in the Fellowship Hall. We enjoy good fellowship, hot coffee, and delicious treats as we discuss God’s presence in our daily lives. If you are unable to join us in person, then please Zoom with our fellowship, using the links provided in each Sunday morning e-mail from Trinity. Four and More
Rev. Jane Huffstetler has agreed to lead Bible study on Wednesday afternoons at 4:00 p.m. (thus the name). We meet both at the church and by Zoom if that is what works for you. If you want to be included in the weekly reminder that also includes the Zoom link, please send Jane an email or contact the church office. We will begin with Genesis and work our way through the Bible. No prior knowledge is needed, just a Bible and a desire to study with others. Four and More will resume on October 7.
