Trinity Newsletter for November 5, 2026

Monthly Curbside Food Drive

On the second Monday of every month, we host a food (and supply) drive for Crosslines Community Outreach, which offers assistance to our underserved neighbors. In addition to shelf-stable food items, we also collect paper products (toilet paper, paper towels) and personal hygiene items including feminine hygiene products and incontinence supplies. Crosslines will also accept clean plastic sacks from grocery and other retail stores to distribute fresh produce.

If the office is closed due to weather, the food drive will be rescheduled and a new date announced.

“FRIENDSGIVING"

There’s a strong sense of community at Trinity, and nothing creates fellowship like breaking bread together. So let’s try something new!

If you plan to host a Thanksgiving meal this year, would you consider adding a chair (or two) around your table?

If you don’t have family nearby, would you appreciate joining a Trinity family for Thanksgiving dinner in their home?

To host someone who might be alone at Thanksgiving — or to be connected with a host family — please contact Kristin Butler

Ekklesia/UMHE will hold its annual dinner on Saturday, November 14, at 6:00 p.m., at National Avenue Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 1515 S. National Ave.

Ekklesia is an inclusive, ecumenical campus ministry affiliated with four denominations and welcoming students from all (or no) faith traditions. Denominational partners include the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the Presbyterian Church (USA) and the United Church of Christ. Join us for a delicious meal, great conversations and an opportunity to bid on some fantastic silent auction items. Tickets are FREE; donations are appreciated. Please RSVP by November 10.

Want to support Ekklesial's annual dinner ahead of time? We are looking for desserts to supplement our catered dinner and items to round out our silent auction. We're looking for pies, cakes, cookies and other baked goods, and gift certificates, collectibles, themed baskets and tangible items, respectively. Be creative!

Office Volunteers and Subs Needed

Our friends at Brentwood have been providing MOST of the Welcome Desk coverage for the last 18 months, with a few gaps. We have offered to try to fill those gaps as we are able. Shifts are three hours long (9:00 a.m. to Noon, Noon to 3:00 p.m.), and involve answering the phone, opening the door, and general office tasks as needed. Most of the time you will be idle and able to focus on a task or book you bring from home. You can sign up to work specific shifts every week, once a month, or on specific days that work best for you.

Regular openings are on Mondays and Wednesdays, from Noon to 3:00 p.m. We would also like to develop a list of substitute Welcome Desk volunteers, folks that can be called when one of the regularly scheduled volunteers (on any shift, Monday through Thursday) cannot fill the shift.

Please contact Rev. Alyssa in the church office (office@trinityspringfieldpcusa.org, 417-450-2544) for more information or to be added to the schedule.
