Exciting Facility Updates Ahead
Merry Christmas! It is a joy-filled time here at Trinity as we make final preparations for our Candlelight Communion Christmas Eve service this Friday at 7:30pm, both in-person and livestreamed, followed by Christmas Carol Worship on Sunday at 11:30am. I hope you will join us for both services.
Christmas isn’t the only reason we are feeling joyful at Trinity, however. After many months of preparation, we are finally ready to start work on a series of major facility upgrades. A bit of background: about 9 months ago, Trinity signed a new, 5-year access agreement with Brentwood Christian Church. A major part of this agreement was a joint commitment to invest funds into facility improvements which would benefit both congregations. The Session appointed Bob Kick, Sharon Reed, Patty Dunn, and Pastor Chris as the Trinity representatives to the joint planning team, a team which has worked hard to identify the most pressing issues we could address within the available funds. Last month the final proposal was jointly approved by Brentwood and Trinity leadership, and we now have our tentative project timeline.
Today I want to share some key details with you about what will be happening over the next few months and how it will impact our common life together. I have included a brochure with additional details and graphics as well.
Project Scope: Major renovations to the Sanctuary, Foyer (fellowship area outside the sanctuary), and the East Entryway Vestibule. Replacement of the exterior facility sign.
Project Goals: Renovate the Sanctuary & Foyer to allow for greater accessibility and access while also updating the fixtures and finishes to create spaces which welcome members and guests alike. Install a new exterior sign which clearly identifies both Trinity and Brentwood as active congregations in our facility while also improving visibility and presence in the neighborhood.
Project Timeline: Preparation will begin mid-January 2022 in the Sanctuary and Foyer. Renovation will begin early February and is estimated to conclude the first week of April, prior to Easter 2022.
Impacts on Congregational Life:
The most noticeable impact will be a temporary change in our worship location during renovations. Starting Sunday, January 16, worship will move downstairs to the Fellowship Hall. Worship will remain available via livestream broadcast.
We will be adjusting the start time and location of our Sunday School classes. Starting January 9, all classes will begin at 10:15am. Some classes will temporarily change meeting rooms as well.
Our Administrative Assistant, June, will be moving her office to the west side of the building. Starting Monday, January 17, all mid-week business will use the west entryway.
While the next few months will certainly involve some inconvenience and uncertainty requiring flexibility and grace, the result will be a dramatically improved worship space for our community and increased visibility for our congregation in the neighborhood. I encourage you to review the attached brochure for more details on the project and I hope you will reach out with any questions.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas,
Pastor Chris Miller
