Extended Worship - April 26, 2020

Today we continue our journey through the season of Easter in worship as we encounter the risen Christ along the road to Emmaus, hear some amazing music, and set aside time today to pray for our community and world.  As always, I hope you find the resources we have put together to be helpful.  If there are other ways I can be a support to you or your family during these days, please reach out.  You can start the conversation by replying to this email.

A reminder: next week is the first Sunday of May and we will celebrating the Lord's Supper together during worship.  All you need to participate is grape juice, wine, or water, and bread.  I look forward to breaking bread together!

Worship Videos
Our worship service this week has some special musical guests: the Conaway family.  They will be leading our first hymn and sharing our musical offering.  I'm also please to share a special message and musical offering from Robert and Sharon Reed.

Music for Social Distancing
Each week our staff will be sharing some music that is bringing them joy.  Some may relate to the sermon, others are just music for the times.  You can click here for the full playlist.  Here are this week's picks:

This week's songs from Chris are:

  • The Road to Emmaus by Mike Crawford - KC based Mike Crawford beautifully captures the emotional transformation experienced by the disciples on the Emmaus road in one of my favorite worship songs.

  • Lord Jesus, You Shall Be My Song arr Lloyd Kauffman - As I was working on the sermon for this week I kept returning to the opening line of this hymn: "Lord Jesus, you shall be my song as I journey."  The super observant will notice this is a repeat from about a month ago; but well worth the revisit in my opinion!

  • King of Me by Rend Co Kids - Not only is this song infectious in its joy (which I needed this week), I also need the reminder that God is the God of the giants, so I need not fear.

This week's songs from Carla are:
