Extended Worship - November 29, 2020 - First Sunday of Advent

Happy Advent!  Today we enter the season of Advent, the four weeks of preparation before Christmas.  In worship you will notice some changes: more music, a decorated worship space, and the lighting of the Advent Wreath, just to name a few.  Thank you to our musicians and musical guests, along with our families that are taking part in our Advent liturgy.

Next Saturday we are having a Parking Lot Carol Sing, and you're invited.  Just come to the back parking lot at Trinity on Saturday, December 5 at 3:00pm.  To make sure you stay safe and warm, we will remain in our cars and be led in singing over our radios.  Be sure to check this week's newsletter for all the details.

Please also remember: November is Pledge Month at Trinity.  Throughout the month we will be hearing from Trinity members about our Pledge Campaign and why they pledge.  Today during worship Carrie Arquitt shares a bit of her story. You can learn more about our pledge campaign, and make your pledge online, right here: https://trinityspringfieldpcusa.org/pledge

Thank you for being part of the Trinity family. If there are ways I can be a support to you this week, please reach out.

Music for Social Distancing
Each week our staff will be sharing some music that is bringing them joy.  Some may relate to the sermon, others are just music for the times.  You can click herefor the full playlist.  Here are this week's picks:

This week's songs from Chris:
Over the next few weeks I'll be recommending music of the season - likely at least a whole Christmas album each week.

  • Hymns for Advent by Richard McVeigh - This collection of classic hymns for advent, set with pipe organ and choir (and lyrics for some of the less familiar options), is a thing of beauty.

  • A Jolly Irish Christmas, Vol 2 by Rend Collective - This link will take you to the playlist for the just-released second Christmas album from Rend Collective which features both traditional carols and some of their own compositions. It's been on repeat around my house the last few days. If you listen to one song it should be Today Is The Savior's Day - it is wonderful, moving, and the scenery in the video isn't half bad either.
