Lent 2021 at Trinity

Lent Email Head.png

Tomorrow marks the beginning of Lent. During the season of Lent, the church journeys with Christ to Jerusalem and prepares to remember his death and resurrection. It is a season marked by special worship and deeper study. You are invited to join the Trinity family this Lent as we go on the journey together.

We have put together a page on our website with information on all of our Lent activities and services. Over the coming weeks this page will be updated with new links and information as it becomes available. Please visithttps://trinityspringfieldpcusa.org/lent for all these resources and more.

I want to give you direct links to a handful of items for this week:

  • Ash Wednesday Worship - The first day of Lent, Ash Wednesday is traditionally a day of confession and prayer. This year we are joining churches across the nation in a service hosted by the national staff of the Presbyterian Church (USA). Tap here to participate on your own schedule.

  • Mid-Week Prayer Services - Wednesdays during Lent (Feb 17 through Mar 31) at 6:00pm we will be hosting Mid-Week Prayer Services. Broadcast live from the Trinity chapel on our YouTube channel, these services will feature music, prayer, and scripture designed to help center us each on our journey. Tap here for the service for Feb 17; there will be a new link for each broadcast.

  • Daily Devotionals for Home and Family - We are providing two full sets of daily devotions for personal and family use. Each devotional has readings and prayers for each day of Lent, along with different ways of engaging. We recommend you download both devotionals and see which best fits your personal style. Tap the title to open / download a PDF of the devotional. If you prefer, we can make a physical copy and mail it to you. Contact the church office for assistance.

    • Praying with Scripture During Lent (Presbyterian Outlook) - This devotional set has shorter reflections and provides several different daily ways of engaging with scripture through journaling, prayer, movement, and music.

    • The Way to Shalom (Presbyterians Today) - This devotional has longer daily reflections and one consistent practice to use throughout the season of Lent.

  • Lent Mid-Week Study Group - Thursdays in Lent at 4:00pm
Join Pastor Chris for this six-session study exploring our Reformed faith; what it tells us about who God is and who we are.  Our study will take place via Zoom (link distributed via email) there is no prep needed before the first session, so I hope you will join me!

I hope you find these resources helpful as we enter this season. If you need assistance accessing anything listed, or have questions about the work and ministry of Trinity, please don't hesitate to contact me or the Trinity office.

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Chris
