Winter Weather Policy Reminder

With the forecast for the coming days indicating a good chance of extreme cold temperatures and possibly even some snow, today seemed like a good time to remind us all of Trinity's policies and procedures around winter weather.

Safety First!

Our primary concern is the safety of our Trinity family and staff.  If you aren't comfortable traveling due to weather conditions, please stay home, even if we do not cancel church events.  We would rather miss seeing you for a week than have you get injured while traveling.

When Does Trinity Cancel Events?

Our Trinity policy is to cancel in-person events and close the church office on any day when Springfield Public Schools cancels classes due to weather.  On weekends, our pastor consults with our staff and our facility partners at Brentwood to evaluate the safety of area roads, our facility parking lot, and sidewalks.

How Does Trinity Communicate Weather Closures?

Our primary means of communicating closures is through our church smartphone app.  This allows us to send immediate push notifications to our congregation.  We will also send an email and post closures on our church website.  During the week you can also watch local media for school closures, and if SPS is closed, so is Trinity.

What About Our Online Service?

In the event that in-person church services are canceled, it is most likely that our online service will also be canceled.  If the roads are too dangerous to travel for our congregation, we will likely not ask our staff and worship volunteers to travel to host our online service.  In the event we are able to host a limited online service we will communicate that as part of the weather announcement.

If you have any questions about this, or anything at Trinity, please reply to this email.

Grace and Peace,
Pastor Chris
