Extended Worship - October 25, 2020 - Reformation Sunday
Happy Reformation Sunday! Today we remember and give thanks for our Presbyterian and Reformed heritage, for faithful reformers throughout the history of the church, and for the continuing work of re-forming that the Holy Spirit engages in even now. During worship this week we sing hymns giving thanks for God's presence in the past, present, and future. We share in prayers written by John Calvin and Martin Luther. We also welcome Rev. Landon Whitsitt to share the sermon as he reflects on what it means to be people of the Reformation. On a special note, we rejoice in Landon's ministry with the Synod of Mid-America as he prepares to conclude this chapter as our Synod Executive. In just a few weeks Landon will be moving to Oklahoma City to serve as the Senior Pastor for Westminster Presbyterian Church. Please hold Landon, his family, and the congregation in Oklahoma City in your prayer during this time of change.
I want to remind you that this week we begin our four week, congregation-wide study of the powerful book No Innocent Bystanders. If you haven't picked up your complimentary copy of the book, I will be at church today from 10:30am until 12:30pm at the West / Trinity doors; you can also reply to this email to find another time to come by church and pick up your copy. If you need someone to bring it by your home, please let me know and we will work something out!

Music for Social Distancing
Each week our staff will be sharing some music that is bringing them joy. Some may relate to the sermon, others are just music for the times. You can click herefor the full playlist. Here are this week's picks:
This week's songs from Chris:
With it being Reformation Sunday I'm going to share five renditions of Martin Luther's great hymn of the Reformation: A Mighty Fortress is Our God. I love each of these for a different reason - they range from orchestra and mass choir to contemporary worship style - and in the variety I am reminded that while style of music may change, the truth of God's message remains forever. To God be the Glory.
