Extended Worship - November 8, 2020
This past week has been a lot. The anxiety of our national election, the nationwide spike in pandemic cases, and the continued waiting as some of our local elections remain too close to call -- I know many of us are experiencing a smorgasbord of emotions. Wherever you find yourself at the moment, may I give you one encouragement: seek out compassion. Seek it out for those in your life who you may deeply disagree with on politics - this doesn't mean saying they are right, simply seeking to approach them with grace in these days. There are those in our community who are rejoicing at the outcome of the Presidential election; there are those who are feeling a deep sense of fear and even anger - we must seek out ways of being that allow us to hold to our convictions while still seeking to approach all people with compassion and grace. Seek out compassion for those in need - a great way to do this is our Curbside Food Drive, tomorrow (Monday, Nov 9) from 10am to 1pm at church. Finally, seek out compassion for yourself - give yourself the grace to rest, unplug from the news cycle, and know that while what happens in our nation's political sphere is of great importance worthy of our attention and care, our hope is still ultimately found in Christ.
In this week to come if you need a space to process the emotions and challenges of this past week I would be glad to spend time in conversation.
Please also remember: November is Pledge Month at Trinity. Throughout the month we will be hearing from Trinity members about our Pledge Campaign and why they pledge. Today during worship Max Perryman shares a bit of his story. Pledge packets went in the mail on Wednesday so those on the mailing list should have them by now, plus you can learn more about our pledge campaign, and make your pledge online, right here: https://trinityspringfieldpcusa.org/pledge
Thank you for being part of the Trinity family. If there are ways I can be a support to you this week, please reach out.

Music for Social Distancing
Each week our staff will be sharing some music that is bringing them joy. Some may relate to the sermon, others are just music for the times. You can click herefor the full playlist. Here are this week's picks:
This week's songs from Chris:
Down to the River to Pray by The Bethel College Choir - So, the actual title of the YouTube video is "The Bethel College Choir sang in my grain bin!" If you've ever wondered what the acoustics in an empty farm grain bin are like, now's your chance!
The King of Love My Shepherd Is by Koine - A wonderful version of Psalm 23.
Galway Girl by Daoirí Farrell - If you've ever been stuck at the gate waiting on a long-delayed flight, you can understand why the passengers were delighted... And if you want a more "traditional" folk piece by him, here's a good one.
